Author: Kazue Kato
Genre: Paranormal Shonen Manga
I can never get enough of protagonists who have a snarky and funny personality and an angsty past.
This volume in particular is meant to be fun, with the funny and slightly stereotypical characters. You’ve got the old, wise mentor. The funny, trouble-making protagonist with a heart of gold. The slightly nerdier and more serious brother who is the exact opposite of our main protagonist. With that being said, I still really enjoyed this volume because of course, as with a lot of shonen manga, it is fast-paced and fun with a flair for the dramatic. I’m looking forward to learning more about the world and all the paranormal creatures are fascinating. A lot of the story is included in this one volume where other mangas take 2 or 3 volumes to reach. Since I’ve only read Volume 1 so far and the story definitely has the potential for bigger story arcs. I also have a feeling it’s going to get a more darker as the story continues.
It doesn’t bring anything too new to the table and I wish there were more female characters but I still really liked it and will be picking up the next volumes!
